Memphis Mayor Paul Young spoke with the media about Johnson during the Sea of Blue.

"It's a beautiful thing to see our community come together. If you looked at the processional, you saw officers from all across the region that came to stand in solidarity with [Johnson's] family and the community, and this is the kind of unification that we need," Young said.

Officer Johnson served with the Memphis Police Department for just over a year, graduating from the Memphis Police Department Training Academy in March 2024. He was assigned to North Main Station.
