MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – The Southern Poverty Law Center held a news conference Wednesday morning with journalist Manuel Duran, who was released on bond last week from ICE custody.
Duran was joined by one of his attorneys from the SPLC, Gracie Willis, and Mauricio Calvo, Executive Director of Latino Memphis.
Duran was released Thursday, July 11, after 465 days in ICE custody, after Duran’s attorneys, with the SPLC and Adelante Alabama Worker Center, secured his release on bond.
Duran’s attorney says she is filing for asylum protection on behalf of her client.
