WEB EXTRA: Meet Local Punk Band ‘Negro Terror,’ Playing Cooper-Young Festival This Weekend

On Saturday, September 15th, Memphians will flood the Cooper Young intersection and surrounding neighborhood by the thousands to celebrate the annual Cooper Young Festival.

This annual street festival hosts a massive gauntlet of vendors and entertainment. From unique arts and crafts to food vendors serving up Pronto Pups and funnel cakes, locals will enjoy a smorgasbord of fun, food, and cold beverages.

But that’s not all. What would a street festival be without some live music? With 3 stages within walking distance of one another, festival goers can enjoy a variety of local and regional music acts throughout the day.

Headlining the Memphis Grizzlies stage Saturday at 4:30 PM is Memphis’ own Hardcore Punk band, Negro Terror. Local 24’s Parker Hays had a chance to sit down with the band and talk to them about their motivation, the state of the Memphis music scene, and asks the question, how does one come up with the name Negro Terror?
