WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — Are you looking to buy a house in West Memphis but struggling to navigate the process? City leaders are inviting you to attend a Home Buyer's Workshop class this Saturday, Oct. 4.
During a city council meeting on Thursday, West Memphis Mayor Marco McClendon said conversations about housing have been taking place on social media and properties are being built in the city for those interested acquiring a home. He wants to grow the number of homeowners and encourage people to attend the event.
“We want to have 60% ownership and 40% renting," McClendon said. "It’s a free conference. Just come out. If you really want to buy a house… this is the place to be.”
The workshop will address credit management, HUD representation, owning a house, buying vs. renting and financial planning. Realtors and housing professionals will be in attendance to provide counseling. Whether a person is ready to buy a house or someone is just beginning the process, the workshop aims to help.
The class will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in City Hall, located at 205 South Redding St. Those needing more information can call Danielle Glenn at 870-732-7520.
