MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – By now you probably know the roads were an absolute DISASTER Wednesday morning. Why though?
Some thought perhaps freezing fog, but it just wasn’t all thatfoggy. I personally saw frozen puddles on the sides of the road where rain fromMonday’s storms had still not completely drained because the drains are cloggedwith leaves.
But that doesn’t explain the problems on the interstate.
Basically, we fell victim to the morning dew. It’s called“deposition” and it happens when moisture similar to dew forms, andinstead of the water droplets you would normally see, the below freezing tempscaused it to form into frost and ice.
Thankfully at this point our temperatures are now above freezingso we should begin to see the conditions improving for the remainder of theday.
Our temps will drop below freezing again Wednesday night but thehigh in the 40s and the sunshine should help get rid of lingering moisture, andwe should be good to go in the morning.
