MEMPHIS, Tenn. — With Election Day only five days away, here is some important information you should know before heading to the polls in Tennessee this November 5.
On Election Day, voters are required to vote at their assigned polling places.
In Tennessee, polling places open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. It's important to make sure you are in line by 7:00 p.m. to cast your vote.
Ensure you are going to the correct polling location, especially if you have recently moved. You can verify your polling site HERE.
Voters must bring a photo ID to show to poll workers in order to check-in. In the case of a primary election, voters can expect workers to ask about party affiliations. A ballot application will be printed, and a voter access card will be created. Voters should sign the ballot application and make their way to the voting machine area.
At the machine, another poll worker will collect the ballot application. Voters will sign a signature list and be directed to a voting machine. After inserting the voter access card, voters should follow the instructions on the screen to select candidates.
If there are races you choose not to vote in, you can skip those.
A summary page will appear for review; verify your choices and press the 'Cast Ballot' button when you're finished. Voters will then return their voting access card and should receive an 'I Voted' sticker from a poll worker.
