MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman was found dead in a wooded area, and the Shelby County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) has detained a suspect.
Deputies responded to a welfare check in the 7000 block of Peppermill Lane just after 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20.
Upon arrival, SCSO discovered a woman's body in the woods behind a backyard fence.
SCSO reports that one person has been detained, and this is in active investigation.
