MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman was hit and killed by a bus, and a man was hit by a car while trying to help her, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).
Police responded to two separate accidents at Union Avenue near South McLean around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29.
The woman was initially hit by a bus, which remained on the scene. She was pronounced dead on site.
While attempting to help her, a man was hit by a black SUV, which fled the scene.
MPD says the man was taken to Regional One in non-critical condition.
Both incidents are ongoing investigations, according to MPD.
