MISSISSIPPI, USA — Today is Election Day, and voters are now flocking to the polls. Here is some important information Mississippians should know before voting.
Voting polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.
Mississippians voters must have one of the forms of acceptable photo ID listed below:
- A valid Mississippi driver’s license (includes Mississippi Mobile ID, issued by Department of Public Safety)
- A valid identification card issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the State of Mississippi
- A valid United States passport
- A valid employee photo identification card issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the United States government, the State of Mississippi, or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of this state
- A current and valid Mississippi license to carry a pistol or revolver, containing a photo of the voter
- A valid tribal photo identification card
- A valid United States military photo identification card
- A current and valid student photo identification card, issued by any accredited college, university or community or junior college in the State of Mississippi
- An official Mississippi Voter Identification Card
- Any current and valid photo ID not listed above issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the United States government or any other state government.
People can cast an affidavit ballot if they do not have an acceptable photo ID or if they are not to do so due to a religious objection.
