WYNNE, Ark. — Jennifer Hobbs will remain as Wynne's mayor after community members failed to remove her from office with a recall referendum on Election Day.
Hobbs kept her position after 1,627 people voted against the measure while only 1,217 voted for her removal.
The vote came after a group of community members called the "Always A Jacket" submitted a petition that contained 1,207 signatures from registered Wynne residents, which was enough to be certified by the Cross County Clerk and placed on the November ballot.
According to THV11, the group started the petition after reportedly witnessing a "series of grievances from Wynne residents in the wake of tornado recovery from last year’s devastating storm."
