First Assistant US Attorney, Reagan Taylor Fondren appointed US Attorney for Western District of Tennessee

The Memphis native will succeed US attorney Kevin G. Ritz who resigned from office Sept. 18.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — First Assistant United States Attorney Reagan Taylor Fondren will succeed former United States Attorney Kevin G. Ritz as the Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee. Fondren's appointment follows the Ritz's resignation on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Her appointment is effective immediately.

Fondren is a Memphis native and has served as First Assistant since October 2022. After completing her undergraduate studies at Spelman College and her law degree at the University of Tennessee College of Law, Fondren worked in federal public service with the United States Department of Justice and has served as an Assistant United States Attorney for over 16 years.

Fondren began her career as a Presidential Management Fellow with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). There, she served in the Office of the Chief Counsel and was responsible for the investigation of charges against DEA registrants accused of violating federal regulations. In 2014, Fondren returned to Memphis to serve the Western District of Tennessee as an Assistant United States Attorney.

She is also a Fellow of the Memphis Bar Foundation and active in community organizations including the National Bar Association, the National Black Prosecutors Association and Girl Scouts Heart of the South.
