Earle, Arkansas, police officer dies after patrol car ran off road the night before Thanksgiving

Crittenden County EMS said it appeared the officer may have suffered a medical emergency.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The community of Earle, Arkansas, is mourning the death of a police officer the night before Thanksgiving.

Crittenden EMS said dispatch received a call about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, about an Earle police vehicle off the road on State Highway 118 just north of Earle High School. Deputies and paramedics responded and found the officer inside unresponsive.

Officials said the deputies forced their way into the patrol car and pulled the officer out, then began CPR. He was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Crittenden where he later died.

Investigators said it appears the officer may have had a medical emergency before his car left the road, and that the vehicle had minor damage but did not appear to have been in a crash.
