Senatobia High and Middle School students return to campus after being evacuated due to threat

Officials said police, fire, and local authorities scanned the buildings, and students returned once the search was cleared.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Senatobia High and Middle School students have returned to campus after being evacuated after the school district said a threat was made to the middle school.

The schools will dismiss as normally scheduled.

The Senatobia Municipal School District said just before noon on Thursday. April 4, 2024, all middle and high school students were walked to the Northwest Mississippi Community College coliseum “out of an abundance of caution.”

Officials said police, fire, and local authorities scanned the buildings, and students returned once the search was cleared.

"Thank you to all of the following for your dedicated professional assistance: Senatobia Police and Fire Departments, Tate County Sheriff's Department, Desoto and Southaven Police departments, Northwest Community College, and the University of Mississippi. It was truly a team effort today. Thank parents for your cooperation and know that the safety of our students and staff are always our top priority," said a statement from the district.

Later that day, Senatobia Police released a statement saying a juvenile was taken into custody related to a false report of a bomb at the middle school.
