JACKSON, Miss — A man has been sentenced to 20 years after threatening a mail carrier with a dangerous weapon, according to the United States Attorney’s Office in the Northern district of Mississippi.

Henry Weaver of Sledge, Mississippi was convicted in federal court on Feb. 13, 2024 for threats that were reportedly made on April 23, 2022. The 47-year-old has been in custody since his April 2022 arrest, according to the attorney's office.

“We will not tolerate threats of violence against mail carriers while they are simply doing their jobs,” said U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner. “We commend the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for their work on this investigation and for helping to protect the community from this defendant.”

This case was reportedly investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Quitman County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by AUSA Robert Mims, according to the attorney's office.
