MEMPHIS, Tenn — Tonight’s Ransom Note is for Governor Lee.
Governor, now that Tennessee is a hotspot for COVID-19, will you please consider a statewide mask mandate?
Every night, I show our viewers the numbers for the Memphis metro area and they’re not good, Governor.
An all-time high for current cases, third worst day for new cases, just three percent capacity in our ICUs.
But check this out.
The COVID tracking project says only three states where infection rates have hit more than one thousand per million people.
And Tennessee is the worst in the country, actually the worst in the world, according to the COVID tracking project.
We’re at 1161, then Arizona, then Ohio.
And look at this Governor, of the twenty US cities where new cases are increasing fastest, we are number eight in your state.
You can see most of them are in the same rural counties where there is no statewide mask mandate.
Jackson is 20th and all the way to Sevierville which is ranked fifth in the nation.
There’s no shame, Governor, in doing this now. It’s not too late.
After all, five of our neighboring states already have statewide mandates.
Governor, why wait another day?
