Opinion | “Medical Nazis”: It’s a new low for a Tennessee state politician | Richard Ransom

Republican State Rep. Bruce Griffey hit a new low this week in a letter criticizing lawmakers and companies who favor vaccine mandates.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — It’s a new low for a Tennessee state politician. And in these divided times, that's saying something.

Republican State Representative Bruce Griffey, who represents Paris, Tennessee in Henry County, isn't known for biting his tongue. And he's not about to now apparently.

But he hit a new low this week in a letter criticizing lawmakers and companies who favor vaccine mandates as "medical Nazis."

Look, I get the mandates are controversial. But how are things ever going to get civil again if our elected leaders use that type of language?

Griffey is trying to gin-up support for a special session of the legislature later this month in which COVID-19 mandates are expected to be front and center. But he's also argued recently that vaccines don't work and masks are a joke.

So when he says history will judge harshly those who favor such mandates, and that "Hitler is smiling with glee,” which he said, I have no doubt how history will judge him.
