MEMPHIS, Tenn. — In tonight’s Ransom Note: the blame game.
True to form, after being indicted by the feds for illegally funneling money to his failed congressional campaign five years ago, State Senator Brian Kelsey of Germantown called it a “Biden administration witch hunt.”
Seriously senator? You know better.
But you are hoping your constituents won’t be reminded that the DOJ opened its investigation, wait for it, during the Trump administration when it first suspected wrongdoing.
This is what happens when politicians are in office too long.
They become insulated especially when you are part of a political party that has the kind of super majority Republicans now enjoy in the state legislature.
And I’m sure the recently convicted Democratic State Senator Katrina Robinson might disagree that federal criminal probes were as partisan as Kelsey makes it sound.
No senator, just like Senator Robinson, you got in the spot you are in all on your own as do the many other local politicians of both parties from Memphis and Shelby County accused of corruption.
So please senator, stop misleading voters on how you got there.
