MEMPHIS, Tenn. — What's in a name?
You've probably noticed today, we dropped the "local" from our name and rebranded to ABC 24. We did that for a lot of reasons and not just the chance to get some new swag like t-shirts and coffee mugs.
First and foremost, we're refocusing on covering news that fits your needs. And we're doing it in a way that celebrates life in Memphis and the Mid-South.
While our community has its challenges, it's still ours. This is our home. It's where we all live, and we want to have a hand in making it better for all of us.
The first step is admitting "we" have a problem. Sometimes being so focused on covering "the news" that we forget to just provide the information you really need to get through the day.
So, we're refocusing on the things that matter to you. Our neighbors. Our community.
ABC 24 is the new name because it's how people in Memphis know us best. And you'll hear ABC 24 along with the word Memphis because we're proud of our city and the people who live here.
"News right now" is more than a slogan. It's a commitment.
We're going to work to get you information you can trust with urgency when you need it.
So, what's in a name? Well, when you hear ABC 24, think about all that knowing we're going to work every day for you and for Memphis.
I always love to hear from you. Join the conversation by email (rransom@abc24.com), Facebook, or Twitter.
