MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two games into the season and two wins for the Memphis Redbirds.
Off the back of a four-run second inning, the Redbirds cruised to a 10-3 win over the Charlotte Knights.
Nine of the Redbirds' 10 runs came home via a home run. The five home runs on Saturday are tied for second most in the clubs International League history.
Second baseman Jose Fermin snagged the club’s first multi-homer game of the season with a solo blast in the second and a three-run shot in the sixth. Left fielder Jared Young, catcher Pedro Pages and third baseman Cesar Prieto also drilled home runs — it was all of their first of the season.
Starting pitcher Adam Kloffenstein pitched four innings and allowed two runs on five hits, while striking out four and walking one.
The win sees the Redbirds start the season undefeated after a 6-5 win on Friday and also win their first series of the season.
