CHARLESTON, S.C. — Memphis 901 FC's struggles in discipline continue as they suffer a 3-1 defeat at Charleston Battery, with a controversial red card to defender Lucas Turci proving costly on Saturday night.

Memphis 901 FC remains at the bottom of the 'fair play' table with 60 yellow cards and six red cards after defender Lucas Turci receives a controversial second yellow on Saturday night.

Less than 10 minutes before halftime, the ball bounces off Turci's hand, and the head official immediately issues the Brazilian a second yellow card. Charleston capitalizes on the man advantage four minutes later, with Nick Markanich scoring from inside the box.

901 FC shows resilience five minutes into the second half as Samuel Careaga equalizes after his shot deflects off a Charleston defender.

Memphis continues to press, firing three shots in the next three minutes, but Charleston finds the go-ahead goal. In the 55th minute, a deflected shot inside the penalty area leads to Matt Myers pouncing on the ball and firing past goalkeeper Triston Henry.

Desperate for an equalizer, Memphis fights for possession in the final moments, but Charleston slows the pace of play. In the 72nd minute, winger Juan Torres curls a shot past Henry into the bottom-right corner, sealing the win for the hosts.

Playing a man down, Memphis struggles to create chances throughout the match. 901 FC manages 18 shots but only one clear-cut opportunity.

Despite conceding three goals, newly signed goalkeeper Henry impresses again, making seven saves and bringing his total to 18 in his first three matches for Memphis.

With just two wins in their last five matches, Memphis drops to fourth in the Western Conference standings. 901 FC returns home next Saturday to face Miami FC at AutoZone Park.
