MEMPHIS, Tenn — Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023, the University of Memphis announced linebackers coach Jordan Hankins is taking over as the interim defensive coordinator for the Memphis Tigers football team.
The Tigers will take on Iowa State with Hankins in place of Defensive Coordinator Matt Barnes, who took a co-defensive coordinator job at Mississippi State earlier this month.
Hankins entered his third season as linebackers coach and assistant special teams coordinator for Memphis in 2023. The former Marshall linebackers coach/special teams coordinator was hired on Jan. 28, 2021, according to his staff profile on the Memphis Tigers website.
