MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Grizzlies selected University of Connecticut guard Cam Spencer with the 53rd overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft.
The Grizzlies reportedly traded up to the 53rd pick per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Detroit Pistons held the pick, which was originally owned by the Timberwolves.
Spencer is a 6'3" senior guard, who played five years, averaging 14.3 points in his final year on 48.4 percent shooting, and 44 percent from three. Spencer averaged 18.9 points during his sophomore season at Loyola-Maryland, but had less efficiency in shooting percentages.
The Grizzlies drafted Purdue center Zach Edey from Purdue with the 9th pick in the draft, and Washington State forward Jaylen Wells with the 39th overall pick in the second round.
Spencer previously played three seasons at Loyola-Maryland and one season at Rutgers.
All three rookies will be introduced to the city on Friday, June 28.
