MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Grizzlies said Thursday that Ja Morant's surgery to repair his shoulder was successful, and he is expected to make a full recovery for the 2024-25 season.
At a training session on Saturday, Morant suffered a subluxation of his right shoulder, according to the Grizzlies. When the team faced the Phoenix Suns on Sunday, Morant could be seen on the bench with his arm in a sling.
Following ongoing soreness and instability, Morant underwent an MRI that revealed an underlying labral tear, according to the team Monday. They said he would remain out for the rest of the season.
After this news was released, the Grizzlies guard tweeted a heart emoji.
