MEMPHIS, Tenn — Tigers fans might be feeling some déjà vu — Iowa State is set to play Memphis for the AutoZone Liberty Bowl game at the end of the month.

The 65th AutoZone Liberty Bowl game will see the two teams facing off in the same venue they did in 2017, when Iowa narrowly beat the Tigers 21-20. This year's game will be televised nationally on ESPN and is said to start at 2:30 p.m. at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.

In fact, this year will mark the Iowa Cyclones' fourth Bowl game as the team played in 1972 and 2012 as well.

"It’s been a highly successful season for the Memphis Tigers," executive director of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl Steve Ehrhart said.  "Coach Ryan Silverfield and his team have won nine games and this makes their 10th-straight bowl appearance. It’s only the second time in our 65-year history to have the University of Memphis in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. We had a packed stadium back in 2017 and expect the same again this year."

The AutoZone Liberty Bowl can be reached at (901) 795 7700 for event and game tickets. The Memphis Ticket Office also reportedly is selling tickets through this website.

"With the planned major renovations to Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium, this year’s AutoZone Liberty Bowl takes on even more significance for the Memphis community," Ehrhart said. "We’re proud to host the Tigers and their outstanding fans as we join hands to send a resounding message that both organizations are strong and the investment in the stadium are needed and also vital to the future of both the AutoZone Liberty Bowl and Tiger Football."

Ehrhart said he is "thrilled" to welcome back the Iowa State Cyclones.

"Coach Matt Campbell led his team to an 7-5 regular season, including a 6-3 record in the Big 12," Ehrhart said. "Their wins included Oklahoma State, that played on the Big 12 Championship Game, and a season-ending win on the road in the snow at Kansas State."
