MEMPHIS, Tenn. — In collaboration with the FedEx St. Jude Championship, lifestyle brand Eastside Golf made a stop in Memphis on Friday to host their second annual community day in the Bluff City.
Olajuwon Ajanaku founded the company back in 2019 when he developed his infamous logo as a way to represent him on the course and since then it's taken off, all with the goal of diversifying the sport.
"I started this brand because I started being told no. No to my dreams and no to what I wanted to do with my life," Ajanaku said. "I'm just glad that people see the logo and some people see themselves and feel like they can be themselves out on a golf course now."
Eastside Golf has collaborated with major companies like Mercedes Benz and Nike over the years which has seen stars from Patrick Mahomes to former President Barack Obama don the apparel.
"Just being able to continue to push the envelope within golf and continue to partner with companies that have never been in a golf room, that's how you grow the game," Ajanaku said.
Friday's event was all about giving everyone the chance to play the game despite the financial barriers associated. During the day, Bridgestone were welcomed as the new Official Community Partner and Paradies Lagardère as a Community Golf Day partner.
