TENNESSEE, USA — The playoff games are in the books for high school football teams in Tennessee.
Brentwood took down Briarcrest, Collierville won against the Undefeated Clarksville and MASE took matters into their own hands — all during these critical match-ups for high schools around the area.
Here are highlights from across the Memphis and more as well as a scoreboard of select games to boot:
Game of the week: Houston vs. Dickson County
The Houston Mustangs took on the Dickson County Cougars as fans were already in the holiday spirit. The celebration started earl with an opening drive. Chandler Day rolled left and found a wide-open Wes Haynes. Haynes made the diving grab for six and then Houston was up 7-0.
Back-to-back special teams turnovers took place by Dickson County. They gave the mustangs a short field, and Day didn't hesitate. He bought time off play action and hit Shawne Jones for his third touchdown pass of the first quarter. Houston was then up 21-0.
Mustangs then ran all over the cougars — literally. Damon Sisa took the handoff cuts right and H-back Owen Waggener had a devastating block. Sisa took off untouched for the 80-yard score. Houston was up 28-0, still in the first quarter.
Houston went on to cruise the rest of the way toward a 47-0 victory.
