MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Hundreds put their swing into action on Monday out at TPC Southwind for the 29th Annual AutoZone Liberty Bowl Golf Classic for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Included in the long list of participants on links were Memphis Men's Basketball Coach Penny Hardaway, Memphis Football head coach Ryan Silverfield and college football hall of famer and this year's recipient of the Distinguished Citizen Award.
"Being from Memphis, we understand how important St. Jude Children's Hospital is to us and to the world, and anytime I can be a part of anything that has to do with the Children's Hospital, I'm all for it," Hardaway said.
"People call us athletes heroes - we're not," Theismann said. "The men and women and the scientists and doctors at St. Jude, they're heroes because they restore families. They restore life."
The AutoZone Liberty Bowl has raised more than $6 million for St. Jude over the years.
