Memphis Grizzlies sign two guards to 10-day contracts

The Grizzlies have announced that they have signed two new guards for 10-day contracts. These players are ex-Timberwolves and Kings player Jaylen Nowell and player Shaquille Harrison, who has played for the Suns, Bulls, Jazz, Nuggets, Nets and Trail Blazers. 

The terms of the deals were not disclosed reportedly because of Grizzlies policy. 

Since Nowell was selected 43rd overall in the 2019 draft, the 24-year-old reportedly has appeared in 184 regular season games (with three starts) in four NBA seasons and reportedly has averaged 9.1 points, 2.2. rebounds and 1.9 assists in 17 minutes for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

This season, Nowell reportedly started three games for the Stockton Kings during the NBA G League Showcase Cup, averaging 12 points; 47 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.3 steals in 24.3 minutes.

Nowell is a native of Seattle and played collegiately at Washington. There, her reportedly was named the 2018-2019 Pac-12 "Player of the Year."

The other guard hired on a 10-day contract to the Memphis Grizzles in 29-year-old Shaquille Harrison. He was a member of the Grizzlies' 2023 training camp roster and has reportedly appeared in 180 regular season games (with 23 starts) in six NBA seasons.

Reportedly, Harrison has averaged 5.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 15.4 minutes for the Phoenix Suns, Chicago Bulls, Utah Jazz, Denver Nuggets, Brooklyn Nets and Portland Trail Blazers since he went unselected in the 2016 NBA Draft.

He also competed in eight post-season games with the Los Angeles Lakers last season and signed a 10- day contract with the Grizzlies during the 2021-2022 season as well. 

Harrison is originally from Kansas City, Missouri and played collegiately at Tulsa. He has reportedly appeared in 143 games games for four NBA G League teams and was named the 2021-2022 NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year as a member of the Delaware Blue Coats.
