Memphis Grizzlies’ Vince Williams Jr. named to 2024 Panini Rising Stars

The 2024 Panini Rising Stars, a part of the NBA All-Star Weekend, is a mini tournament featuring NBA rookies and sophomores and NBA G League players.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — According to a press release from the Memphis Grizzlies, Vince Williams Jr. has been named by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to the 2024 Panini Rising Stars as an injury replacement. 

The 2024 Panini Rising Stars, a part of NBA All-Star Weekend, is a mini tournament featuring NBA rookies and sophomores and NBA G League players.

The annual showcase of young talent at NBA All-Star Weekend will take place Friday, Feb. 16, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and will air live at 8 p.m.

Williams Jr. has appeared in 40 games with the Grizzlies this season and has averaged 9.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 26.0 minutes. The second-year standout has averaged 16.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.4 steals in 34.6 minutes while shooting 47.4 percent from the field and 42.3 percent from 3-point range in his last 13 games, according to the press release.

Selected by Memphis with the 47th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft out of VCU, Williams Jr. initially signed a two-way contract with the Grizzlies before signing a multi-year contract on Jan. 10, 2024. The 23-year-old Toledo native is the 21st player in franchise history to be named to the Rising Stars game, the press release said.
