TENNESSEE, USA — The second week of playoff games are in the books for high school football teams in Tennessee.
Brentwood took down Briarcrest, Davidson drew a touchdown with four seconds left and the Red Devils are still dominant — all during the second week of these pivotal face-offs.
Here are highlights from across the Memphis and more as well as a scoreboard of select games to boot:
Game of the week: Davidson vs. Lausanne
The Division 2 Class 2 A playoffs featured Lausanne and Davidson Academy. Coach Kevin Locastro and the 9-1 Lausanne Lynx took on the 9-2 Davidson Academy Bears in East Memphis.
The Bears got off to a roaring start as Braxton Trice received a pass in stride, rumbling down to the one yard line.
On the next play, Cades Stroud drove his way into the endzone. After a two point conversion, the Bears lead 15-0. On the following kickoff, Davidson pulled out some tricks. They pulled off a sneaky forward roll onside kick and recovered.
With all the momentum and great field position, Davidson drove down the field and Cades forced his way to the 12-yard line. Two plays later, quarterback Knox Roberts hits 'em with the fake and slings one to Jonathan Nobles. This extended their lead to 22-0.
Still, Lausanne refused to leave the game. The Lynx scored 35 unanswered, but then Davidson scored with four seconds left to steal a 36-35 win in Memphis.
