MEMPHIS, Tenn. — On Thursday, May 2, the University of Memphis announced that they have begun the search for a new athletic director.
Laird Veatch left for the athletic director position in Missouri on April 22. He was Memphis' athletic director for nearly five years, accepting the job in October 2019.
The University of Memphis announced Tuesday Senior Deputy Athletic Director Jeff Crane will serve as Interim Athletic Director.
A six-person advisory committee will assist University President Bill Hardgrave to kick off the hiring process this summer, according to the U of M. They'll also enlist the help of national search firm Parker Executive Search.
"We are extremely excited to be in the position we find ourselves in today with Athletics,” said University President Bill Hardgrave. “We want to continue this upward momentum with a forward-thinking, transformative leader with the vision to ensure we achieve our full potential as we head into a promising future for Tiger Athletics.”
