MEMPHIS, Tennessee — Memphis’ scorching summer just heated up with a Woj bomb.
According to NBA reporter Adrian Wojnarowski, the Memphis Grizzlies are about to make moves before the upcoming draft. Woj reports that the Grizzlies will send Jonas Valanciunas and the 2021 No. 17 and No. 51 picks to New Orleans for Steven Adams, Eric Bledsoe, and the 2021 No. 10 and No. 40 picks and a protected 2022 first-round pick via the Lakers.
Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Bledsoe is not expected to remain in Memphis.
Locked On Grizzlies podcast host Shawn Coleman spoke highly of the trade with ABC Local 24.
"It's an absolutely fantastic move," Coleman said. "On the surface, losing Jonas Valanciunas is hard to see happen. Jonas both on and off the court was phenomenal. But the focus is on the future. We've all heard Zach Kleiman talk about having the focus on the future. That was the idea. Taking present value in Jonas, helping out a team that needed to clear cap space and getting handsomely paid for the future when it comes to future picks. It gives them a lot of creativity and options moving forward."
The 2021 NBA Draft begins Thursday at 7:00 p.m. CT on ABC Local 24.
