GG Jackson suffers broken foot, Grizzlies say

The Grizzlies forward is scheduled for surgery on Wednesday, September 4, according to the team

MEMPHIS, Tenn — Memphis Grizzlies forward GG Jackson broke his foot and will require surgery, according to a release from the team.

Jackson, who made the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2023, was playing basketball outside of Dallas on Tuesday. Jackson landed awkwardly on his right foot after attempting a contested layup. The second year forward broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot, the Grizzlies said.

Jackson will require surgery, scheduled for Wednesday, September 4.

Jackson was the 45th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. After spending time with the Memphis Hustle on a two-way contract, he was called up to the main roster and signed a four year, $8.5 million standard contract in February. He averaged 14.6 points and 4.1 rebounds on 42.8% shooting.

Memphis will have training camp in Nashville, beginning Oct. 1.
