Memphis Grizzlies call up Matthew Hurt from Hustle, G-League

Hurt leads the G-League in scoring at 25.5 points per game in 11 games.

MEMPHIS, Tenn — The Memphis Grizzlies are bringing in some reinforcements. The team has called Matthew Hurt up from the Memphis Hustle, the Grizzlies G-League affiliate, on a 10-day contract.

The roster move comes after the Grizzlies put out an injury report that included 11 players, eight of which were out for their Monday game against the Sacramento Kings. If all of those players were inactive, it would only leave the Grizzlies with seven, one short of the NBA mandated eight required to play a game.

Hurt (6'9", 235) is leading the G-League at 25.5 points per game, 8.4 rebounds per game and 1.6 assists per game in 11 appearances. He's spent the last three years in the G-League and the last two with the Memphis Hustle. The 23-year-old is also shooting 57.0 percent from the field and 50.6 percent from three-point range.

Hurt played two years collegiately at Duke, where he was 2020-2021 All-ACC First Team in his sophomore year. He went undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft.
