MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Grizzlies, just like every team in the NBA, have aspirations of winning a championship.
Every offseason is a chance for teams to reassess all aspects of their personnel and see what pieces they can add to put themselves in a better position to reach the peak of the sport.
For the Grizzlies that meant hiring a new assistant coach in Paris Basktball coach Tuomas Iisalo, that's according to BasketNews.
The outlet reports that the 41-year-old Finland native is set to join the Grizzlies on a three-year contract and will also be the head coach of the Grizzlies at the NBA Summer League.
Iisalo played professional basketball and has been coaching in Europe for the last decade. He was the Bundesliga Coach of the Year in 2022 and 2023 and then as head coach for Paris Basketball was named coach of the year in both the French LNB Pro A and the EuroCup as his team won the latter and made the French League finals.
Iisalo is known for his offense and will make for a nice pairing with Taylor Jenkins.
Memphis will begin Summer League play in Salt Lake City on Monday.
