NEW YORK — The Memphis Grizzlies made their second pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, selecting Washington State forward Jaylen Wells with the 39th overall pick in the second round.

Wells is a 6'8", 205 pound wing that scored 12.6 points per game for the Cougars, good for third on the team. He also put up 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists. Wells ability to space the floor as a catch and shoot forward is what makes him attractive to NBA teams, he shot 42% from three-point range as a junior in the Pac-12.

Wells spent time on the Division II level with Sonoma State. He was a D-II All-American and the California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Year in 2023 after leading the conference in scoring (22.1 ppg) and tied for first in rebounds (8.7 rpg).

The Grizzlies have one pick remaining in the second round of the draft at #57 overall. They chose Zach Edey, a center out of Purdue University with the ninth overall pick in the first round. Memphis will introduce all of their rookies Friday at FedExForum.
