LAS VEGAS — The Memphis Grizzlies will be playing for hardware on Monday in the Summer League championship game after a 99-98 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.
Scotty Pippen Jr. led the Grizz with a triple-double - 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. He becomes just the fifth player to score a triple double in Summer League.
Rookie Jaylen Wells scored a team-high 28 points after knocking down six of seven from beyond the arc. It marks the most three pointers Wells has scored all of Summer League.
GG Jackson and Trey Jemison also scored in double figures.
The Clippers took their first and only lead of the fourth quarter with under 2 minutes to go off a three from Cam Christie.
But Pippen took control of the game in the latter stages scoring the final eight points for Memphis.
The Clippers had a chance to tie the game with free throws and send it into OT with 2 seconds left on the clock but Kobe Brown only converted on 1 of 2 from the line. That saw the Grizzlies hold on to win 99-98.
Memphis were without Zach Edey, Cam Spencer and Jake LaRavia who all have minor injuries that are being monitored.
The Grizzlies will play the winner of the Miami Heat and the Golden State Warriors in Las Vegas Summer League Final at 7 p.m. CT on Monday. The game will be aired on ESPN.
