MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Grizzlies forward GG Jackson II has been named to the 2023-24 NBA All-Rookie Second Team, the NBA announced Monday.
Jackson joins Dallas’ Dereck Lively II, Houston's Amen Thompson, Utah's Keyonte George, and Oklahoma City's Cason Wallace on the second team. Jackson got the last spot by one vote over Golden State's Trayce Jackson-Davis.
The 6’9, 215 lb. forward had 18 starts in 48 games this season, averaging 14.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 25.7 minutes. He set a single-game rookie franchise record with a career-high 44 points in the regular season finale on April 14 vs. Denver, the second-highest scoring total by a teenager in NBA history.
Jackson joined the Grizzlies as the 45th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. At 19-years-old, he is the youngest player in the NBA this season.
Jackson ranked fourth among rookies in scoring average and third after the All-Star break behind only San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama and Charlotte’s Brandon Miller. He also ranked fourth in defensive rating among rookies who averaged at least 24 minutes per game.
Jackson is the fifth Grizzlies player in the last six seasons to receive All-Rookie honors.
Wembanyama and Miller were named to the NBA’s All-Rookie First Team this season, along with Oklahoma City’s Chet Holmgren, Miami’s Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Golden State’s Brandin Podziemski.
The All-Defensive team selections will be revealed Tuesday, and the All-NBA team will be unveiled Wednesday.
