MEMPHIS, Tenn — The Grizzlies are missing their big man in the middle, Steven Adams, but he’s still offering up the usual laughs. Not just to his teammates, but to the small screen audience as well.
Adams latest commercial is hilarious, much like the big man himself.
The New Zealander promotes milk for Meadow Fresh in the latest sponsorship spot in his home country. Ask Adams' teammates, milk is pretty spot on for the man whose nicknames include, Aquamane and The Big Kiwi.
“Bro he has cows, he milks cows in the summer bro," Ziaire Williams told Jaren Jackson Jr at Tuesday's practice. "I think he has cows and horses and all types of stuff. I know for a fact he milks cows during the summer though for sure."
Steve-O is a known animal lover. In 2022, he walked through the Christmas Lights at the Memphis Zoo with students.
Coach Taylor Jenkins says Adams wanted to study the agricultural industry at the University of Pittsburgh before he was drafted to the NBA early for his unique set of skills.
He’s even taught his coach a thing or two.
"He gets a real joy out of it, it’s a passion of his. It’s probably one of the first people in my life that can like really tell you more about what that industry is. And you’re like ‘wow, it’s fascinating.’ He’s got a love for it," Jenkins said.
While Adams recovers from knee surgery and misses the 2023 season, surely, he’ll be drinking plenty of milk to stay big and strong.
"I hope (the commercial is) a good one and drives a lot of milk production and consumption," said Jenkins.
The Grizzlies face Utah on November 1, the first of three games on the road.
