Nae'Qwan Tomlin Inks Contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers

After a standout season with the Memphis Tiger, Forward Nae'Qwan Tomlin earns an NBA Summer League contract with the Cavaliers.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The 2024 NBA Draft came and went and no former Memphis Men's Basketball players were picked, but now three have signed deals.

That most recent of those is forward Nae'Qwan Tomlin who today signed a Summer League deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Tigers posted the news on their social media accounts but specific details of the deal aren't yet available.

The Harlem N.Y., native played in 21 games for the Tigers in 2023-24 after transferring midseason from Kansas State.

He was a bright spot in an overall disappointing season for Memphis, averaging 14 points and 6 rebounds (second most on the team). Those numbers saw Tomlin earn a spot at the NBA G League Camp and he impressed enough there to earn a call up to the NBA Draft Combine.

Prior to Memphis, Tomlin played one season at Kansas State helping the Wildcats advance to the Elite Eight in 2022-23.

The 6-foot-10 forward began his college career at the JUCO level, playing for Monroe (N.Y.) Community College before spending two seasons at Chipola (Fla.) Community College.

Tomlin is not the only former Tiger to receive recent interest from NBA teams.

Tomlin's former teammate at Memphis, David Jones recently signed a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Meanwhile Boogie Ellis, who played for Penny Hardaway and the Tigers from 2019-21, recently signed with the Sacramento Kings after not being selected in the 2024 NBA Draft.
