MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The American Athletic Conference named Memphis Tigers guard Jahvon Quinerly conference Player of the Week, Monday. Quinerly averaged 24.0 points, 7.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds in two conference wins.
Quinerly could not be stopped in the 109-101 and 112-86 wins over UTSA and Wichita State, respectively. It was the first time the Tigers scored 100 points or more in back to back games since 1986.
Against the Roadrunners, the fifth year senior scored 25 points and added four rebounds and four assists to help Memphis earn the overtime win. He followed up with a 23 point, 11 assist double-double against Wichita State. It was Quinerly's second career double-double and the 11 assists tied a career high.
The 112 points in the win against Wichita State were the most points scored in an AAC conference game and the 63 points in the second half were the most points scored in one half of a league game.
It's the third time Quinerly's been named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll this season and his first time earning player of the week honors.
Memphis returns to the floor Thursday for their "6th Mane" game when they take on South Florida in FedExForum. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
