Memphis Tigers add Baraka Okojie, Tyreek Smith, and Moussa Cisse as incoming transfers

The three new transfers are joining the University of Memphis Tigers basketball roster for the 2024-2025 season.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three new transfers are joining the University of Memphis Tigers basketball roster for the 2024-2025 season.

Baraka Okojie from George Mason, Tyreek Smith from SMU, and Moussa Cisse from Ole Miss were announced Friday, June 7, 2024, as incoming transfers.

They join a class that includes PJ Haggerty from Tulsa, Dain Dainja from Illinois, Colby Rogers from Wichita State, and Tyrese Hunter from Texas.

Okojie is a 6’3” guard coming in with three tears of eligibility remaining. He was one of only three players at George Mason to see action in all 32 games, with 10 starts. He averaged 8.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 24.5 minutes per game, and was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team. He was fifth in the nation for his free throw rate of 82.9%.

Originally a three-star recruit in the 2024 recruiting class, Okojie reclassified to the 2023 class last summer before signing with George Mason.

Smith is a 6’8” 225 lbs. forward with one final season of eligibility. He played previously at Texas Tech, then Oklahoma State, before spending last season at SMU. Smith played all 33 games with 13 starts at SMU, averaging 8.2. points and 5.4 rebounds in 19.1 minutes per game. He also earned CSC Academic All-District honors.

Cisse is a 7’ five-star, top-10 prospect from the 2020 recruiting class who played with the Tigers in 2020-21 before transferring to Oklahoma State for two seasons, then heading to Ole Miss in 2023-24. He was ACC Freshman of the Year with the Tigers, and averaged 4.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks with 17 starts in 26 games with the Rebels last season.

Cisse was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year for Oklahoma State in 2021-22 and was on the Big 12 All-Defensive Team for 2022-23.
