Memphis Tigers David Jones and Jahvon Quinerly named to 2023-24 All-American Athletic Conference teams

Jones earned All-AAC First Team honors, while Quinerly garnered a spot on the All-AAC Third Team.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two Memphis Tigers basketball players - senior forward David Jones and fifth-year point guard Jahvon Quinerly – have been named to the 2023-24 All-American Athletic Conference teams.

Jones earned All-AAC First Team honors, while Quinerly garnered a spot on the All-AAC Third Team.

AAC coaches vote on the awards, and they are not allowed to vote for their own players.

Jones is the only Tiger player to start all 31 games this season, and has averaged 21.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. He has scored a total of 674 points this season, with comes in at eight on the Tigers’ single-season chart and just 88 points shy of Dajuan Wagner’s record of 762 points in 2001-02.

Jones also leads the league in scoring and total field goal makes (215), and ranks second in steals per game, free throws made (169) and double-doubles (10). Altogether, Jones ranks top-2 in seven AAC statistics and top-5 in 14.

Jones was the AAC Player of the Week and Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week in December and is a six-time AAC Weekly Honor Roll selection. He is also one of the five finalists for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award.

Quinerly was named to the all-conference third team at the end of the year after being picked to the first team in the preseason. He has started 30-of-31 games and posted career-high numbers, averaging 13.7 points, 5.0 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. He is also fourth in the league in assists per game, total assists (154) and assists/turnover ratio (2.14).

Quinerly is a two-time AAC Weekly Honor Roll recipient and was named the league’s player of the week on January 15.
