MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Penny Hardaway is busy putting his 2024-2025 roster together and simultaneously finding teams for Memphis to play. The Tigers have set up a home and home series with Mississippi State to span at least the next two seasons.
Memphis will host the Bulldogs in 2024 in FedEx Forum, December 21. It likely figures to be one of the last games of the Tigers non-conference schedule before jumping into conference play in January. Memphis will then head to Starkville to play MSU in Humphrey Coliseum at a date to be determined on the 2025 schedule.
Memphis and Mississippi State have met 25 times total, the last time being in 2021 where Memphis beat MSU, 77-64, to claim the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) championship. Memphis leads the all-time series, 14-11.
Memphis went 4-1 against SEC foes in 2023, beating Missouri, Arkansas, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt and losing to Ole Miss.
Mississippi State went 21-14 last year and 8-10 in the SEC. They made it to the NCAA tournament last year before falling to Michigan State, 69-51.
