Memphis torches East Carolina, 82-58, behind Tomlin's 20 points

GREENVILLE, N.C. — The Memphis Tigers had no issues taking care of East Carolina on the road, 82-58. Memphis improves their record to 21-8 and 10-6 in American Athletic Conference play.

Nae'Qwan Tomlin led the Tigers with 20 points and added five rebounds and two blocks. David Jones continued his stellar play with an 18 point, 10 rebound double-double. It was Jones' 10th double-double of the season. Nicholas Jourdain also scored 14 points.

ECU was led by RJ Felton who had 19 points and nine rebounds. Brandon Johnson had 16 points, eight rebounds and five steals.

Memphis thrived on the defensive end of the floor and in transition. The Tigers held the Pirates to just 38% shooting, including just 8-of-33 in the first half. They forced 17 ECU turnovers with 17 points off TOs and had 34 fastbreak points, playing at a breakneck pace all game long.

The win inches the Tigers closer to a top four seed in the AAC. Doing so ensures byes in the first two rounds of the conference tournament.

Memphis will be back on the floor at home in FedExForum March 3 against UAB. It will be a chance for revenge as the Blazers beat Memphis in Birmingham, 97-88 back on January 28.
