MEMPHIS, Tenn — Memphis women's soccer advanced to the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive season. They Tigers (20-1) beat Notre Dame 3-2 in the round of 32 at the University of Arkansas.

Memphis jumped out to an early lead on the leg of Finley Lavin who scored in the 16th minute. It was Lavin's first goal of the season and first of her career. Notre Dame was able to equalize just before the halftime buzzer.

Memphis grabbed the lead a second time in the 76th minute. After a free kick was earned by freshman Ashley Henderson, senior Saorla Miller was able to score off the goalpost to give Memphis a 2-1 lead. Henderson followed up just a minute later to add a third goal and give Memphis a 3-1 lead.

Notre Dame closed the gap in the 79th minute with a goal from Maddie Mercado.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kaylie Bierman played all 90 minutes and saved six shots.

Memphis will play the winner of Arkansas and Pittsburgh on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 6pm. It could potentially be a rematch of 2022, when Arkansas and Memphis tied 3-3 in regulation. The Razorbacks beat Memphis in penalty kicks to advance to the Elite Eight.
