MEMPHIS, Tenn. — NCAA Tournament games for March Madness are here in Memphis, and the Memphis Police Department is implementing safety measures and traffic control plans to keep fans safe.
Memphis Mayor Paul Young said extra precautions will include bike and mounted MPD officers, more screening stations along Beale Street and more members of the Blue Suede Brigade out on patrol.
MPD announced those same measures, saying they are doing everything possible to make it a memorable event. They are also executing a traffic plan to direct travel for residents and visitors throughout the downtown area. Visual maps of the plan — including where attendees can park — were released to the public Wednesday, March 20, and are attached below.

Closed from 6pm to 3am:
- Beale St.
- Second St.
- BB King Ave.
- 4th St.
Main routes used for traffic entering and exiting Downtown:
- Union Ave.
- Danny Thomas Blvd.
- Gayoso Ave.
- Dr. MLK Jr. Ave.
- Main St.
- Front St.
Those attending are asked to use public parking areas and avoid illegal parking.
