OXFORD, Miss — Ole Miss sophomore slugger Andrew Fischer was named All-SEC Second Team, the league announced on Monday.
Fischer earned the league nod from the designated hitter spot. He's the first Ole Miss Player to earn All-SEC status at DH since Stephen Head in 2005. Fischer (.289/1.051/.652) led Ole Miss in slugging percentage, hits (59) , RBI (57), triples (2), total bases (133), and home runs (20).
Fischer was also second in runs scored (47) and third in walks (34) and batting average. He was eighth in the SEC in home runs (20) and 12th in the conference in RBI. He is only the fourth player in Rebels history to hit 20 home runs.
Ole Miss (27-28, 11-19 SEC) will play Mississippi State in the first round of the SEC Tournament beginning Tuesday, May 21.
