MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Tiger's men's basketball head coach Penny Hardaway and Memphis Grizzlies guard Luke Kennard are among the many celebrities competing in the Danny Thomas Celebrity-Am at the FedEx St. Jude Tournament.
Kennard, who competed in the tournament last year, agreeed to a one year, $11 million deal to stay with the Grizzlies Wednesday morning, according to a X post from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Other sports stars include basketball Hall of Famer Vince Carter, former Grizzlies assistant coach Lionel Hollins, Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien and World Series champion Brad Penny.
This is the fifth straight year celebrities from different entertainment paths will compete in the scramble format tournament.
The private celebrity event's tee off is set for at 9 a.m. August 15 at Spring Creek Ranch in Collierville, TN.
The St. Jude Championship Week will consist of three events prior to the DTCA.
The Patient/Player Putt-Around will feature a putting lesson with St. Jude patients led by TaylorMade athlete Collin Morika. This will take place at at 3:30 p.m on August 13 at TPC Southwind.
The FedEx Purple Eagle Naming Ceremony will unveil the 11th St. Jude patient whose name will adorn a FedEx Feeder Cessna Caravan aircraft. The honor is given annually to a patient whose family member is a FedEx employee. This event is set for 11 a.m. on August 14 also at TPC Southwind
The St. Jude JAM, presented by HH Global and Delta Dental, will include a live auction and performances from Tennessee Mass Choir and more. This private event will be at 5:30 p.m. on August 14 at the Peabody Hotel Grand Ballroom.
