MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis 901FC forward Nighte Pickering will head to Morocco to participate in the U.S. U-19 Men's Youth National Team camp as part of the March FIFA international window.
The United States Soccer Federation announced on Friday that Pickering will be with the youth team from March 17-27 for international friendlies with England on March 24 and Morocco on March 26.
“This is another fantastic step in Nighte’s career,” 901 FC Assistant Sporting Director Caleb Patterson-Sewell said. “We brought him in as a young 17-year-old after scouting a youth tournament and his progression has been brilliant. After starting one game in his first season, he has now appeared more than 35 times with numerous national team camps and a lot of interest abroad at the moment. We look forward to his continued progression within the national team setup.”
The news comes after Pickering slotted a goal in Memphis' 2-1 win over Las Vegas Lights in the season opener last Saturday. Pickering's goal earned him goal of the week honors by the USL.
It was his eighth goal for 901 FC since signing in 2022 as the youngest player in club history.
Pickering will be available for selection for Memphis' clash with Indy Eleven on Saturday, March 16 at 3 p.m. CT.
Pickering was one of 24 players called up to join the squad. It will mark his third stint with the youth national team. The goal for Pickering is to impress enough to be able to compete in the 2024 Concacaf U-20 Championship.
